I'm am so proud to be the President of such a great group of members. You are all wonderful people and make each and every get-together better and better and enriching the lives of all!
We all know that we went "dark" (no meeting) in April due to Easter Sunday being the same day as our usual meeting day and the following Sunday we were required to attend the California State Council meeting in Fresno (always enlightening, and hopefully bring back as much "useful" information to all members by the meeting attendees), this time it was myself and Bruce Millhench, our 2nd Vice President that attended. We will inform you of any pertinent items.
We have and exciting month ahead, May, 2017, with Memorial Day and all that it entails.
Please set aside these dates in May:
Saturday, May 27 at 8:00am, We are meeting at Eternal Valley to help the scouts place flags, plus assist the other boys and girls in sending messages to the troops currently in harms way. This is a real joy!
Monday, May 29th "is" Memorial Day. Our observance in honor of our fallen warriors of all eras begins with our assembling at 8:00am. This is a very honorable event and this year we are remembering ALL fallen, especially the men and women of WWII. Please try to make a great presence and wear your usual military attire, however if you don't have a uniform of sorts, a military t-shirt will do if need be. As in the past we will be bearing all of the colors except the USA and Calif., which will already be there. If you are up to carrying one of the flags, please let Harold Schrage or myself aware. We will need at least 9 people to carry the branch's flags, MIA/POW flag, Agent Orange flag, Chapter flag, and the AVVA flag. Let's all please do what we can, and do it in as great a "number" of members as we can.
ALSO, if any of you have any WWII "memorabilia", please bring it with you to our May Chapter Meeting (May 21st), OR no later than Sunday May 28th (please take what you have to Eternal Valley), there will be people there that will securely take it from you and return it to you. Thank you so very much!
May 21st (Sunday): Our May, 2017, Chapter Meeting at Sizzler's Restaurant, Golden Valley Road, Canyon Country, please be there at "least" by 8:30am, thanks again!
JULY 2017, As it stands right now, we don't have full details (which we "may" have for you at our May 21st Chapter Meeting). What I "can" tell you is the the 4th of July Parade is on Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 and we will be assembling at Hart Park as usual at 7:30am to 8:00am, certainly more to follow. PLEASE let myself or Harold know as soon as you can if you want to AND ARE CAPABLE OF, carrying the colors for this parade, we all know the length of this parade, so hopefully we will have enough flag/banner bearers.
Enough from me for now. All I want to add to this is:
THANKS YOU ALL!!
