Hi all members and everyone else;

Nick Callas here, President of our GREAT Chapter 355, Vietnam Veterans of America;

I'm sure that most of you have heard of the "tragic" loss of our Brother, Friend, and PROUD U.S. Veteran, Agustin "Augie" Garibay. The accident occurred on July 11, 2016 in Mexico.

Augie's wife Esperanza, his son Adrian, and Augie's niece, along with Augie's remains were "finally" able to return to the U.S. this week.

There will be a service for Augie next Tuesday, July 26th, in Sylmar and he will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery following the service, which begins at 9am on Tuesday. Further details have been e-mailed to all members several times, but please keep checking on our website here, or our Facebook page, in case of changes. The services are open to any and all who want to and "can" attend.

To "change-up" the mood somewhat, I want to make all of you aware that on Wednesday, July 13th, one of our most dedicated members and a VERY PROUD AND HONORABLE MARINE, was recognized at the "Patriots Day Luncheon" at the Hyatt Hotel, Valencia, as the Marine most deserving of this recognition: MR. FAUSTO GALVAN! He is certainly worthy of this honor for all that he does for our community and our beloved Marine Corps. His wife Valeria was in attendance with him as well, as were a few of our members. I "PROUDLY" presented Fausto to the assembled group and believe me "that" was an honor for me!

Lastly, I want to recognize "each and every one of YOU", as without all of you, we would and could not exist. You are all wonderful, hard working and very exceptional people. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Tragedy and Pride, describe Agustin's "journey", as life would have it, we will certainly miss him.

Pride: describes Fausto's recognition, and it absolutely describes "my" feelings about all of you, our VVA family,  as well as our AVVA family (who does all the work to "make us look good"), well at least good with what they have to work with, right?

Again, thanks to all of you, our Family, and "Rest in Peace Brave Warrior Agustin"!

"We will all miss you Augie, but we know you're now in Heaven as you've paid your time in Hell"
