VVA and AVVA members.
We are doing our best to come out of the Covid 19 years and hoping to return to the glory of our chapter’s history. This is what has always been our busy season and we miss the good ole days.
We will be participating in the Memorial Day activities at the Eternal Valley Cemetery on the 30th. We will need members to carry branch flags, man our refreshment table, and be involved in the flag placement in the days before the 30th. The march in and out is about 150 feet each way. Many of our usual volunteers are running at half speed or even less with sprains, strains, fractures, surgeries and all that jazz. Volunteer now and send me your availability so I can share it with the board and event coordinators. TIME IS OF THE... (Read more)

I am saddened to report the loss of our VVA brother Agustin Garibay this Monday. He was driving in the area of Nayarit, Mexico when his car collided with a tour bus coming towards him. His wife Esperanza, his son Adrian and another young passenger survived with injuries. She has had surgery to repair an arm fracture and Adrian has had two to correct a fractured hip. Details are sketchy for me as the news article is in Spanish.
Their daughter Evelyn is traveling to Mexico to coordinate 'Augie's' return and to find out when the family can come home. We will keep you posted on details as they become available.
Prayers are in order and Bruce Millhench will coordinate PGR events for his return. We want to support the entire family during this trying time and will discuss possibilities at the meeting this Sunday.
Updated info as of 4:30... (Read more)

At about 0230 on that morning my Seabee base and almost every other American post was attacked by VC and the Peoples Army of Vietnam simultaneously. It was a campaign of surprise attacks against military and civilian command and control centers throughout South Vietnam.The name of the offensive comes from the Tet holiday, the Vietnamese New Year, when the first major attacks took place.
During the Battle of Huế, intense fighting lasted for a month, resulting in the destruction of the city. During their occupation, the North Vietnamese executed thousands of people in the Massacre at Huế. Around the US combat base at Khe Sahn, fighting continued for two more months. Although the offensive was a... (Read more)
Hi Folks;
I'm am so proud to be the President of such a great group of members. You are all wonderful people and make each and every get-together better and better and enriching the lives of all!
We all know that we went "dark" (no meeting) in April due to Easter Sunday being the same day as our usual meeting day and the following Sunday we were required to attend the California State Council meeting in Fresno (always enlightening, and hopefully bring back as much "useful" information to all members by the meeting attendees), this time it was myself and Bruce Millhench, our 2nd Vice President that attended. We will inform you of any pertinent items.
We have and exciting month ahead, May, 2017, with Memorial Day and all that it entails.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
10-6-2016
Greetings one and all:
It is my honor to be your collective representative, and I must say that without our “wonderful” VVA and AVVA Boards of Directors, we would not exist. They are all exceptional in their respective areas of supporting YOU and myself, they would also and “have” often added on the extra time with special projects to assist each other and YOU as a membership. As you know, none of us are paid people, but should they be paid what they are worth, we could not afford them! I have given them each a 100% pay increase, but you might guess what that means, 0% (100 x 0), ha L ha.
Now, to the point; I am going to list items that are important and PLEASE write them down on you calendars and GIVE IT YOUR BEST ATTEMPT TO ATTEND ALL... (Read more)
Hi all members and everyone else;
Nick Callas here, President of our GREAT Chapter 355, Vietnam Veterans of America;

There will be a service for Augie next Tuesday, July 26th, in Sylmar and he will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery following the service, which begins at 9am on Tuesday. Further details have been e-mailed to all members several times, but please keep checking on our website here, or our Facebook page, in case of changes. The... (Read more)
